Lindsay Windels, MA, LPC, LAC
Co-Director, LPC Supervisor, Therapist
I believe that human beings are resilient, that we can recover from the unimaginable. I also believe that we shouldn’t have to recover on our own, and that recovery becomes much more impossible when we don’t have the support of others. I believe we are stronger together. That love, empathy, and understanding are the key ingredients to happiness and to worthiness. I believe you are worthy of the space to explore and uncover who you are meant to be. You are worthy of your dreams, no matter how big or small. You are worthy of having needs. You are worthy of being seen for who you truly are. I believe that you are worthy of love and acceptance.
I hope that when you meet with me, it will become clear how much I love my being a therapist. I am so grateful for the people that welcome me into their lives with such honesty and vulnerability, and I promise to show up for you as my most honest and vulnerable self in return. And when I ask how you’ve been doing, I genuinely want to hear it all – the good, the bad, the mundane, and even the weird.
When you choose to work with me, I want you to know that I will challenge you and that I will point out any elephants in the room. And with that, I will always give you respect, compassion, and my genuine appreciation for sharing the pain you’ve endured. I will be honest with you, and sometimes, that comes with discomfort. But despite the discomfort, I want you to know that you are unconditionally cared for in this space. I value diversity and inclusion in my practice and I encourage a safe space for everyone that walks through my door. I promise to always welcome your feedback as to how I can support you better.
I am licensed as both a professional counselor and an addictions counselor and have over a decade of experience working in both a private practice setting, as well as inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities. My specialties include working with substance abuse and addictions; shame; postpartum, pregnancy and parenting concerns; trauma; and depression and anxiety. I also work with family members of those struggling from addictions and help loved ones regain their sense of self after focusing their time and energy on others.
The ability to recover is beautiful, and often painful. I want you to know that you are not alone. That you are courageous for seeking help. And that here, you have found an ally to navigate the challenges you’ve been facing.
