Lauren Voorhees, MA, LPC, LAC
Co-Director, LPC Supervisor, Therapist
Although sometimes the path along my journey was neither straight, nor easy, I always knew I was meant to help those around me.
Those harder roads eventually helped guide me to my degree in counseling psychology. While I was in the Master’s program at the University of Colorado Denver, I discovered that trauma therapy was my passion and I understood the significant link between trauma and addiction. Gaining an understanding about trauma led me to become trained in several modalities including EMDR and I am currently undergoing a three-year long training at the Somatic Experiencing Institute. I also recognized the importance of multiculturalism in therapy. As a result, over the past 10 years, I have continuously sought out experiences and education to help inform me and provide a cultural consciousness to my work.
I am licensed as both a professional counselor and an addictions counselor. I started off working in inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities for mental health and addiction. After some amazing training and experiences, I decided to transition full time in to a private practice setting. My specialties include working with substance abuse and process addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, boundary setting, co-dependency, identity development, narcissistic abuse, shame, lifestyle and relationship issues.
In order to help you through your journey of growth I utilize a strength-based approach while supporting you in self-discovery and self-determination. I offer an environment of non-judgment and empathy in order for you to find healing and self-advocacy. I find the therapeutic relationship to be one of the most important factors in the growth process, because the development of trust and respect fosters a depth that is unmatched. My experiential base provides a foundation from which you can access feelings, patterns, and explore your authenticity, ultimately leading to fulfillment. My goal is to provide a space for you to embrace the messy human experience, all while learning and growing.
Part of wanting to create this group practice was to help supervise and train future clinicians how to be ethically sound and well versed whatever brings the client through the door. I appreciate having the opportunity to share the wisdom that has so graciously been bestowed on me by past supervisors and my work in agencies. Ultimately, I want to help ensure that clients receive the best possible care, while working on eradicating the stigma surrounding mental health.
