Depression Counseling

Depression can present itself in many different forms, often resulting in feeling like you aren’t enjoying life as much as you used to or don’t have the energy to do the things you once loved to do. As a client once appropriately named in session, “depression is rude.”  And what’s even more challenging is that it often shows up unprovoked or unanticipated.  Depression can be invasive, taking over all your attempts to function as normal.  Even if you can determine the source of the feelings, you may not know how to alleviate them.

Some symptoms of depression as determined by the National Institute for Mental Health  include:

  • Persistent sad, anxious, or “empty” mood
  • Feelings of hopelessness or pessimism
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities
  • Decreased energy or fatigue
  • Moving or talking more slowly
  • Feeling restless or having trouble sitting still
  • Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions
  • Difficulty sleeping, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping
  • Appetite and/or weight changes
  • Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
  • Aches or pains, headaches, cramps, or digestive problems without a clear physical cause and/or that do not ease even with treatment

Therapy can be a powerful tool in conquering depression, and the counselors at BCC in Denver are ready to stand by your side in the fight to feel like yourself again. We want to help you find those much-deserved feelings of happiness and we have the evidenced-based therapies to support you.

Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety is an overwhelming and exhausting experience that can be all encompassing; so much so that it has the power to create a physical reaction. Social situations, work interactions and stress, or relationship concerns may give you sweaty palms, an increased heart rate, an upset stomach, and racing thoughts. You may find yourself overthinking scenarios or feeling like you must be perfect in order to be accepted by others.

Symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Feeling restless, wound-up, or on-edge
  • Being easily fatigued
  • Having difficulty concentrating; mind going blank
  • Being irritable
  • Having muscle tension
  • Difficulty controlling feelings of worry
  • Having sleep problems, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, restlessness, or unsatisfying sleep

Do you wonder what it would be like to feel calm, relaxed, and more in charge of your life? To feel confident in unfamiliar situations and more accepting of yourself and your mistakes? We believe that working with Banyan Counseling Collective therapists can dramatically reduce the power anxiety has over your life.  We believe that it is possible to regain control of your thoughts and to confront your fears in the safe, non-judgmental space we provide.
