Katie Tombridge, LPCC
Provisionally Licensed Therapist
Though the path may seem too difficult and long to begin, you have already taken the first step… and that is the hardest one to do. This path towards self-discovery is a journey in which we embrace our vulnerabilities with courage and compassion. Guided by empathy and understanding, we navigate life’s complexities, uncovering our inner strength and resilience. Through this transformative process, we emerge as empowered beings, embracing growth and embarking on a path of authentic renewal.
As a therapist my goal is to create a safe and open space to allow you to express your authentic self. My goal is not to lead but to walk alongside you as we navigate through life’s events and experiences, both past and present.
We go through life filled with emotion and sometimes feel like there is no space to explore or express it, and yet, simultaneously feel ruled by these emotions without understanding why. Utilizing a person-centered, strength-based approach paired with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness, we will unfold and untangle these intertwined experiences on the path towards understanding and empowerment.
Aligning myself as more eclectic and not contained to one specific modality allows me to foster a practical, courageous, and nonjudgmental approach which can be secular or spiritual, following whatever feels most supportive for you. This space is yours to fill and I honor and respect all that you want to bring to it!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) and have obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration on Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Denver. Concurrently, I am also pursuing a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) license. Beyond my Clinical Mental Health Counseling education and experience, I have a background in Neuroscience and in helping conduct research into Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries with combat veterans.
I am passionate about working with individuals who have been impacted by trauma and working towards fostering resiliency and awareness. I am also passionate about working with individuals struggling with addiction and who want to start the process of recovery but do not know where to begin or what that looks like for them. Previously, I have worked in a drug and alcohol treatment center and have gained experience working with clients on an individual and group basis to gain skills and insight as they navigate recovery and sobriety.
I look forward to building a therapeutic relationship with you in which you can grow to your fullest potential!
